Obituary for Norma Bell Spademan

Norma Bell Spademan, 87, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Monday, October 24 at West View Healthy Living in Wooster.

Norma was born October 16, 1929 in East Liverpool, Ohio to James F and Louise L (McHenry) Bell.

As the daughter of an American Airlines / Civilian Air Transport Command pilot, she attended a number of schools across the Midwest before graduating with honors in 1947 from Cleveland West High School and again graduating with high honors from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1951.

She married Charles F. Spademan on June 23, 1951 and subsequently lived in San Diego and Pomona, California, Elmhurst, Ill., Poughkeepsie, New York, and Toledo, Westerville, Worthington, and Wooster, Ohio. Charles preceded her in death in 2011.

She taught in the Columbus public schools for 25 years, primarily at Linden Elementary.

Norma attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Smithville after moving to Wooster.
While living in the Columbus area, she was active in the Worthington Women's Club and the Columbus Children Hospital Auxiliary. She served as a guardian ad litem after retirement. Norma was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Worthington, Ohio...

She is survived by her sons, Steven (Candy) Spademan of Austin, Tx. and Mark (Elaine) Spademan of Wooster, Oh.; grandchildren, John (Beverly) Spademan, Andrea (Joel) Gibbs, Gregory Spademan, Sean Spademan and Sarah Spademan; great-grandchildren, Devon Spademan and Hayden Spademan;
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, James F. Bell, Jr.

A memorial service will also be held Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 1:30 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Smithville.

Norma will be interred in the St John's Episcopal Church Columbarium in Worthington, Oh. at a later date.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.
