Obituary for Marjorie J. Hellings

Marjorie J. Hellings, age 95, of Wooster, passed away, Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Burbank Parke Care Center in Burbank following a period of declining health. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 9, 1921 in Senecaville, Ohio to Edgar and Edith (Finley) Campbell and graduated from Byesville High School where she was the Valedictorian of her class. She then attended Muskingum College.

She married Harry Earl Hellings on June 18, 1953. He passed away in 1986.

Marjorie was an avid reader and read as many as two or three books daily. She amazed her family at her recall of each book that she had read in great detail. She loved mysteries.

She is survived by her three children, Karen Kennedy of Canal Fulton, Oh., Cheryl (Don) Ackermen of Wooster, Oh. and Marcia (Jeff) Hootman of Jeromesville, Oh.; grandchildren, Stephanie (Matt) Lattea of Barberton, Oh. and Kiah Ackerman of Wooster; great-grandchildren, Sarah Vargo and Mya (Rocco) Lattea; nephews, Ken (Mary) Downs and John (Peggy) Downs; a brother-in-law, Jack Downs and her extended family at Burbank Parke, Beverly, Hannah, Yvette, Tim, Rebecca, Sabrina and Jennifer.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Nanetta Downs and Shirley Toledo.

She will fondly be remembered by the staff at Burbank Parke as the "Cookie Monster" for her love (addiction) of Almonette cookies. After her recovery from a recent stroke, Marjorie's first word uttered was "cookie".

She loved her family and always had a smile for them when they would visit. Marjorie frequently commented on how wonderful her three daughters were, and that they were the best part of her life. She always remembered her daughter's birthdays and would call every year on the hour of their birth to wish them a Happy Birthday.

It was her previous wishes there be no funeral or memorial services.
