Obituary for Helen E. Shamp

Helen E. Shamp, of Smithville, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Huntington, W.Va. to James Irvin and Eathel (Lycans) Staley and and was the youngest of 17 children.
She married Adrian E. Shamp on August 24, 1957 in Huntington, W.Va. He survives.
After moving to Wayne County in 1958, she worked as a Packer for the Rubbermaid Co.in Wooster for 32 years before retiring on October 19, 1992.
She had attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Sterling; enjoyed crocheting and sewing which included making many different types of clothing throughout the years; loved to travel in her camper throughout the country with family; was an avid gardener who especially enjoyed growing roses and lillies; she had a big heart through helping both family, friends and especially those in need; she mostly loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Everett (Robin) Shamp of Smithville and 2 daughters, Cynthia (Chuck) Diehl of Sterling and Rhonda Martin of Orrville; 7 grandchildren, Keith (Julie) Baker, Bryan and Jarod Shamp (Joe Wolford), Rebekah (Mike) Shipper , Josh (Rhiannon) Diehl, Calvin and Joel Martin; 8 great-grandchildren, Karianna, Colton and Caleb Baker, Camryn and Carter Shamp, Theo, Oliver and Beatrice Shipper.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Spittler; a granddaughter, Kari; 7 brothers and 8 sisters; mother-in-law, Nora Shamp and a son-in-law, David Martin.
It was her wishes for private services will take place at the convenience of the family.
