Obituary for Duane H Morgan Sr.

Duane H. Morgan, Sr., age 76, of Wooster, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Life Care Hospice in Wooster, after a brief illness. Born September 8, 1939, in Elyria, Ohio, he was preceded in death by his father Maxwell J. Morgan in1939 and by his mother Laverne L. Ramage, (nee Lantz) in 1994.
He attended Elyria High School and then honorably served as Airman lst Class in the United States Air Force 1956 – 1961with the 14th TCSQ 52nd Wing as Crew Chief for Military Air Transport Service.
Duane retired 3/1/93 after 31 years of service as a Tool & Die Maker for General Motors Corporation at C-P-C Mansfield and Fisher Guide Division in Elyria, where he was a Committeeman for Skilled Trades and Shop Bargaining.
Concurrently, he worked part time in Law Enforcement for a span of 23 years starting as Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff for Lorain County Sheriff Dept. & as Assistant Chief Range Instructor. He was Lorain County Community College Range Instructor and Safety Officer for United Auto Workers Shooting Club. He served in the Rochester Police Dept. and was Patrolman and Range Instructor for Spencer Police Dept. Finally, he served 8 years as Patrolman for LaGrange Police Department with 1 year as Chief Firearms Instructor.
Duane resided in Lorain County most of his life. He enjoyed traveling, camping and off- roading. He was co-founder of the Firelands Four Wheel Drive Club. He also was an avid reader and computer gaming strategist. He and his wife moved to Wayne County in 2000.
He is survived by his wife of 31 wonderful years, Sharon (nee Wohlgemuth) and by his sister Janet (Don) Fugate (nee Milne) of Florida; Duane is also survived by his sons and daughters: Duane Jr., Maxine, Michael, and Jennifer whom he raised with his previous wife, Gayle (nee Calkins), during their 18 years of marriage.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal visitation or funeral service.
