Obituary for Elder Royce Hardy Johnson

Elder Royce Hardy Johnson, age 66, of Wooster made his transition to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born in Akron, OH. on August 11, 1948 to Nathaniel and Everlean Johnson and graduated from Akron South High School in 1967.
He was a Vietnam Veteran and married Linda Johnson. She survives.
He moved from Akron to Wooster and has been an area resident for the last 32 years.
He previously worked with the Gerstenslager and Luke companies in Wooster for many years; and also worked as an auto mechanic for both the Gateway Co. and himself in Wooster.
He had served for many years as a retired youth leader where he worked with the Boys Village Network and with the Cuyahoga Boys School in the Cleveland area.
He was a member of New Life Assembly in Wooster where he served in many capacities which included but not limited to the Youth Director , Adult Sunday School Teacher and Bible Study Teacher and was Pastor Lee Andersons right hand man.
He was also affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of The World and a member of the Brotherhood of The Ohio District Council.
He loved running, enjoyed bicycling and riding his motorcycle; he was a musician who loved playing and listening to jazz while playing the bass guitar and organ.
He played with various musical groups in Akron that included The Swanie Larks as well as the Christian All-Stars. He enjoyed taking care of his plants and trees.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tracy McNeil, Joyce Johnson, Royce Johnson and Akeem Johnson all of Akron; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Percilla Coker of Akron; brothers, Ronald Johnson and Randy Johnson both of Akron; two close nieces, Lisa Coker and Angela Carson both of Akron; and many nephews; his devoted canine companion, "Sampson".
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Hardy.
Services will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in Wooster with Pastor Lee Anderson officiating. It was his previous wishes for cremation to follow.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 - 9 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster.
