Obituary for Dorothy I. "Dode" Trier

Dorothy I. "Dode" Trier, age 90, of Wooster, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Glendora Health Care Center in Wooster.
Dorothy was born in Fort Wayne, IN. to Otto and Ruth (Kilgore) Dietel on May 9, 1924. She married John W. Trier, Sr. on October 29, 1943. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2005 after 61 years of marriage.
She was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, IN. and attended Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster.
She worked at General Electric and Lincoln Graphic in Fort Wayne, IN. and later as a homemaker. Her husband's work required moves to New Jersey, Illinois and Wooster, where they remained from 1975 - 1994 before returning to Fort Wayne.
In 2006, she returned to Wooster to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She and "Marley", the family pet (a big Irish Setter) were companions during the day. It wasn't unusual on a nice day to find them together on the sun porch with her working a puzzle and Marley curled up close by.She acquired a wide circle of friends over the years and kept in touch with them through personal visits, phone and written correspondence. As her health declined she moved to Glendora Health Care Center where she continued to make friends.
Surviving are her son, John (Connie) Trier, Jr. of Wooster; a grandson, Abi Rajagopal of Ohio; a step-granddaughter, Tracey Smith; a great granddaughter, Alexis Ahrens of Wooster; a brother-in-law, Herbert (Betty) Trier of Fort Wayne, IN. and a sister-in-law, Barbara Breininger of Kissimmee, FL., and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Alpharetta (Al) Avey, brother-in-laws, Eric Trier and Byron Breininger a sister-in-law, Jackie Trier and her pet companion, "Marley".
A memorial service will take place at a later date in both Wooster and Fort Wayne, IN. that will be announced later.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 in Dode's memory.
The family gives many thanks to the staff at Glendora Health Care Center for the care that was given and making Dode feel like a part of an extended family.
