Obituary for Richard "Dick" Grove

Richard "Dick" Grove, age 84, of Smithville, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 4th, 2014.
He was born July 15, 1930 in Smithville to James F. and Lillie M. (Buchwalter) Grove and has been a resident of Smithville for most of his life.
He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as a truck driver. He was then married to Verna K. Kriner Sheller on February 4, 1956 in Smithville by his father-in-law, Rev. A.L. Kriner.
She passed away on July 5, 1987.
He worked for Consolidated Freightways, in Akron as a long distance truck driver for over 30 years before retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the Retired Teamsters Fellowship Club of Akron and the American Legion Post 282 of Orrville; he was an avid card player.
He is survived by his special friend, Dorothy Rinard of Wooster; son, Samuel (Shirley) Sheller of Orrville; daughters, Mandy Spencer of Smithville, Jonnie Jill (Carl) Phipps of Fredericksburg, and Aimee (Jim) Clark of Mt. Vernon, OH.; a daughter-in-law, Lynnette Sheller of Smithville; 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Marlene Dzurina) Grove of Warren, OH., sisters, Leora Kamp of Rittman, Buelah Olinger of Wooster, Margaret Dickerson of Pasadena, CA. and Sandy Keeler of Smithville; a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sue Sheller Ernst, a son, Carl S. Sheller, Jr.; son-in-law, Rocky C. Spencer, Granddaughter, Stacy E. Spencer and a great-grandson, Caleb Moore; a brother, James Grove, Jr.; sister, Jean Boreman and step children James L. Sheller and Margery J. Vore.
Services will be Saturday, 1:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Pastor Kristy Buyok officiating followed by interment at Smithville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour ( 12:00 p.m. - 1:00p.m.) prior to services on Saturday.
