Obituary for Harlan R. "Skip" Orr

Harlan R. "Skip" Orr, age 82, of Apple Creek, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Westview Healthy Living in Wooster.
Services will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Pastors Eric Fairhurst and Kirk Fairhurst officiating followed by interment at Apple Creek Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to either: Hospice LifeCare, 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, OH. 44691 or Westview Healthy Living Auxiliary, 1715 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

He was born on November 5, 1931 in Apple Creek to Ross J. and Ethel (Hofacre) Orr and has been a resident of Apple Creek all of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as Specialist 3rd Class with the 64th Tank Battalion.
He married Elizabeth M. "Betty" Mizer on November 6, 1981 in Smithville. She went home to be with the Lord, on February 19, 2012 in Wooster.
He loved farming for most of his life.. He then worked for Rutt & Amstutz Co. in Smithville and later for the L.E. Sommer & Son Co. in Seville and for 5 years with Seville Elevator.
He was a member of the Church Of The Savior in Wooster; member of Apple Creek Historical Society; enjoyed cutting wood for many years and playing cards and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Tim Orr of Wadsworth, Jeff (Diane) Orr of Marysville, Ohio and Step-son, Chuck (Kathy) Hartzler of Wooster; a daughter, Wendy Orr of Mansfield, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Matthew (Brittany) Hartzler, Jeremy Hartzler, Brandon and Spencer Orr, Stephanie (Josh) Montenaro, Heather Orr, Noah Orr and Micah Orr.; and 3 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by 4 brothers, Cayton, Delno, Alonzo D., John William Orr and a sister, Norma Jean Knoble.
