Obituary for Gerald C. "Jerry TOGETHER AGAIN" Emler

Gerald C. "Jerry" Emler, age 95, of Wooster, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 at West View Healthy Living in Wooster following a period of declining health.
Services will be Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Pastor Ann Paynter officiating followed by interment at Wooster Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 - 8 p.m. and 1 hour prior (12:00 - 1:00 p.m.) Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. by the Ebenezer Lodge of Wooster.

Gerald was born on August 8, 1918 in Guernsey County, Ohio (near Newcomerstown) to Dewey B. and Anna V. (Wilson) Emler and he and his wife moved from Guernsey County to the Wooster area in 1956.
He served in the US Navy prior to WWII and married Violet M. Cunningham on September 6, 1942 at Newcomerstown Lutheran Church. She passed away on April 19, 2009.
He worked for Ohio Power Company (now AEP) in the Sub Station Maintenance Dept. where he retired from after many years of service.
He was a member of Ebenezer Lodge no. 33 F&AM; Wooster Chapter no. 27, Royal & Accepted Masons; Scottish Rite, Valley Of Canton; Shriners, Tadmor Temple of Akron, Ohio; Ohio Power Veterans Assoc.; Ohio Power Retirees Club and Ohio Power Acacia Club.
Following retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV with his family and especially with his wife spending many winters in Mercedes, Texas.
He was also master wood craftsman who enjoyed making cabinet's and other fine furniture. He especially loved making beautiful old clock's.
He is survived by 3 sons, Karl T. (Heidi G.) Emler of Wooster, David J. (Sharon) Emler of Shreve and Ronald A. Emler and Diane Bouffard of Lanai, Hawaii; Grandchildren, Christoph T. (Amy) Emler of Orrville, Matthew D. (Jessica) Emler of Creston and Amanda R. (Michael) Neibert of Centerburg, Ohio and great-grandchildren, Allison, Josephine, Sydney and Aidan; brothers, Earl (Betty) Emler of Wooster and James (Shirley) Emler of Gnadenhutten, Ohio.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Don Emler and a sister, Doris Murphy.
