Obituary for Marian Blythe Smith Jaffray

Marian Blythe Smith Jaffray, age 93, of Wooster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3rd, 2013 at Westview Healthy Living in Wooster where she was surrounded by her loving family and dear friends.
Services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Presbyterian Church, 7152 Burbank Rd., Wooster with Pastor Robert Meyer officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) to services at the church.
A private burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia where she will join her husband, Lt. Colonel, Robert M. Jaffray.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is privileged with serving the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to either: Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691 or to Wayne Presbyterian Church, 7152 Burbank Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691-both of these were especially very meaningful to her in recent years.

She was born in Decatur, Illinois on August 24, 1919 to Edgar and Hazel (Blythe) Smith.
She graduated from the College of Wooster in 1941 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and married Robert "Bob" M. Jaffray on November 22, 1941 in Streator, Illinois. He passed away in April of 2000. He was also a 1941 graduate of the College of Wooster.
They raised four children in many different locales including three years in England and many years in Hawaii as a military Air Force family. While in Honolulu, Hawaii, she taught music for the Yamaha Company.
Marian was a very talented and accomplished musician who taught and played both piano and organ for numerous churches in Virginia, Hawaii and the Wooster area. Recently she composed and produced a beautiful piece of music which was also copyrighted on a CD.
She was a long-time member of Wayne Presbyterian Church and over the years enjoyed playing music for the church; a member of MacDowell Music Club and PEO Sisterhood; she also enjoyed writing and composing poems for friends and family, drawing and artwork.
She is survived by daughters, Lynn (Bob) Tucker of Columbus, Ohio and Patricia (Chuck) Jones of Wakefield, Virginia; a son, Scott Jaffray of Wooster; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of many beloved good friends she made throughout her life.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Steven Jaffray; 2 brothers, Alfred and John Smith and 2 sisters, Carol Lee Berkheiser and Shirley Hash.
