Obituary for Althea D. Eyster

Althea D. Eyster, age 95, of Orrville, entered into her heavenly home, Thursday morning, July 28, 2016 at Life Care Hospice in Wooster following a brief illness. Her loving family was by her side.

She was born on August 3, 1920 in Marion, Ohio to Alvin C. and Ethel (Sabins) Russell and has been an area resident for most of her life.

Althea married Earl R. Eyster on November 27, 1939. He passed away on September 24, 1979.

She had worked at Westview Healthy Living (Westview Manor) in the Cafeteria for 10 years before retiring in 1977.

She had been a lifelong member of Wooster Church of The Nazarene; enjoyed cooking and was an excellent seamstress. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Don) Gasser of Fairlawn, Oh., Raymond "Ray" (Linda) Eyster of Orrville, Oh., Roger (Angela) Eyster of Houston, Tx., and Gerald "Whitey" Eyster of Wooster; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Donna) Russell of Medina, Oh., Irvin (Gail) Russell of Waco, Tx. and Richard Russell of Creston, Oh.; 3 sisters, Ruth Sohn of Hamilton, Oh., Esther Bailey of Canal Fulton, Oh., and Marjorie Beavis of Raleigh, N.C. and a very special friend, Ida Raber of Smithville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Glenn Eyster; 2 sisters, Leatha Greathouse and Louise Lanz and a brother, Ronald "Bill" Russell.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., in Wooster with Pastor Dan Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Moreland Cemetery in Moreland.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior (11:00 - 1:00 p.m.) to services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to: Wooster Church Of The Nazarene, 3100 Oak Hill Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.
