DANIEL ALLEN SHAFFER

Daniel Allen Shaffer, age 33, a resident of West Chicago, IL and longtime of Wooster, OH, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2017. He was born on January 3, 1984 in Akron, OH.

Daniel is survived by his partner, Austin Stevenson; his parents, Victoria (née Karhan) and David Shaffer of Wooster, OH; his siblings, David (Debbie) Shaffer and Kathleen (Garrett) Ramsier; nieces Lacy, Lyla, Lily, and Layn Ramsier, and nephews Darin and Derek Shaffer. Additional surviving family members include uncle Dudley Karhan, aunt Velma and uncle James Teel, and cousins Jamie and Melissa Teel.

He was preceded in death by grandparents David and Velma Shaffer, Victor and Gertrude Karhan, and William and Margaret Bolz.

Dan was a graduate of Ohio Northern University with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He received his Professional Engineer license from the state of Wisconsin. He previously worked for Marathon Petroleum in Findlay, OH and was working for BP in Naperville and Chicago, IL. Dan also helped his family with Shaffer Electric Co. of Wooster, OH on and off for many years.

Dan was an avid athlete and competed in many races, triathlons, and a half Ironman. Dan had a remarkable sense of humor, razor sharp wit, a warming smile, a quick laugh, and was easily loved by anyone. He enjoyed working on cars immensely. He loved his family and friends with a fierce passion.

A memorial will be established in Dan’s name.

Calling hours Friday, June 30, 2:00 until 4:00 PM, and 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Wayne Presbyterian Church, 7152 Burbank Rd., Wooster, OH.

Funeral Services Saturday, July 1, 2:00 PM at Wayne Presbyterian Church, 7152 Burbank Rd., Wooster, OH, receiving guests prior at 1:00 PM. Pastor Bob Meyer will officiate.

A private interment will take place following the services at the convenience of the family.
