Obituary for Randy Lane Lavinder

Randy Lane  Lavinder
Randy Lane Lavinder, age 64, of Loudonville, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Life Care Hospice in Wooster where he was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 11, 1953 in Athens, Ohio to George Dewey and Donna Delores (Buckley) Lavinder.

He graduated from the Wayne County Schools Career Center in 1971 and then served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict as an Aircraft Specialist from 1972 - 1974.

He married Betsy Ann Pringle in Loudonville in 1993. She survives. He had also lived in the Wooster area for many years before moving to Loudonville.

He had previously worked in Oilfield Services for a few years and then worked as a Juvenile Corrections Officer for the Mohican Juvenile Correctional Facility for 11 years.

He was a long-time member of Mt. Zion Church Of God in Wooster where he also helped build the current facility; He was an outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and also enjoyed ginseng and mushroom hunting.
He mostly loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother Donna Delores Thompson of Wooster; his children, Jason Lane Lavinder of Millersburg, Travis Estep of Ashland, Joshua Estep of Loudonville, Shannon (Justin) Knecht of Mansfield ; grandchildren, Ciara Gray, Destiny Estep, Chasity Estep and Lindsay Knecht.; his siblings, David Lawson (Diane) Lavinder of Aurora, CO, Lydia Leora Gougler of Orrville, Diantha Lou (Joe) Flowers and Rebecca Jane (Mohamed) Haddanay, Eric Kyle Yates, Denise MIchelle Buschor all of Wooster and Troy Rene (Tricia) Yates of Maumee, Oh.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Church of God in Wooster with Pastor Tom Geissinger officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mt. Zion Church of God, 837 S. Geyers Chapel Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.

A private interment will take place following services at the convenience of the family at a later date.
