Obituary for Ervin R. "Big Erv" Cole

Ervin R. "Big Erv"   Cole
Ervin R. "Big Erv" Cole, age 77, of Apple Creek, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 7th, 2017 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was surrounded by his family.

He was born in Coolville, Ohio on May 23, 1940 to Floyd W. and Josephine (Ator) Cole and has been an Apple Creek resident for most of his life.

He married Nancy Green on August 29, 1960 in Akron. She survives.

He worked as a Supervisor for Metals USA in Wooster and retired after many years of service.

He enjoyed hunting and gun collecting; enjoyed attending gun shows; was an avid three wheeler and enjoyed his trucks. He mostly loved spending time with his family and especially being with his grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Christine (Rod) Coleman of Akron, Donald (Rhonda) Cole of Canton, Steven and Danny Cole both of Apple Creek; grandchildren, Shawn, Joshua, Keysha, Aleysha, Zachary, Cody and Nikki; great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Paisynn, Kayden, Kyle, Keagan and Kaylyn; a brother, Roger Cole of Akron and 2 sisters, Linda (David) Ritter of Doylestown and Mary (Dale) Bailes of Boca Raton, Fl.; several nieces and nephews and his faithful canine companion, "Skippy".

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, William "Billy" Cole and Elmer Cole and a sister, Edna Mae Beason.

Services will be Tuesday, 3:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster with Pastor Steve Kern officiating.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior (1:00 - 3:00 p.m ) prior to services on Tuesday.

A private interment will take place following the services at the convenience of the family at a later time.

The family wishes to especially thank the following: LifeCare Hospice of Wayne County, the Apple Creek Fire Dept. and Samantha Fox of the Wooster Community Hospital for all of the compassionate care and concern during his care.
