Obituary for Chuck Young

Chuck  Young
Charles A. "Chuck" Young, age 74, of Wooster, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, at First Presbyterian Church of Wooster with Rev. David Rice officiating. The family will greet friends following the services for a time of fellowship and light refreshments.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.

Chuck was born on March 21, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Tom and Effie (Ogden) Young.
He graduated from Tucumcari High School in New Mexico where he was President of his graduating class and was active in football, basketball and track.
He attended Amarillo College in Amarillo, Texas, West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. He married Carol L. Flessel on April 30, 1999 in Amarillo, Texas.

Chuck sold petroleum equipment in the Texas panhandle, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado for 20 years. Then in 1985 entered the financial services business, gradually specializing in retirement and financial planning. He worked as an AXA Financial Advisor Associate for many years before retiring in 2005. Following his retirement and moving to Wooster in 2006, he was an active volunteer at the Wayne County Library.

Chuck was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wooster; the Izaak Walton League of America; The Elks Lodge of Wooster and the Rebounders Club through the College of Wooster Basketball team. He enjoyed traveling with Carol, enjoyed up-keeping his yard and woods and being with his church friends.

Survivors include his wife Carol; his daughter, Michelle (Rusty) Tapp of San Angelo, Texas; two granddaughters, Cayley and Camryn Tapp; a brother, Tom (Pam) Young of Topeka, Kansas; three step-daughters, Natalie (Rory) Richardson and Amy Flessel all of Wooster and Roxanne Flessel of Twinsburg, Ohio; step-grandchildren, Ryne Richardson, Naya and Montana Janis.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ed Young.
