Obituary for Russell W. Henry

"TOGETHER AGAIN"

WOOSTER — Russell W. Henry, 86, Wooster, died Friday, April 13, 2018, at Akron General Medical Center following a brief period of declining health.

Russ was born on Feb. 8, 1932, in Millersburg to Joseph and Anna (Commer) Henry. He married Nancy J. Creighton on Sept. 28, 1956. She was the love of his life and preceded him in death on May 8, 2014.

Russ served in the Ohio National Guard 1948-1950. He was a member of the Millersburg Fire Department. He was a Machinist Operator and was employed for more than 25 years and retired from Akron Brass.

Russ enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and reruns of old programs, including “Gunsmoke,” on the television. He liked the outdoors, gardening, yard work, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with and talking on the phone to family, friends and neighbors.

Surviving are children Tammy (Chet) Mullet of Orrville, James Henry (Christy Pratt) of Millersburg and Jane (Ray) Morris of Orrville; grandchildren, Brooke Ratliff, Devin Mullet (Joe Moore), Jason (Kristen) Mairs, Staci Morris (Kurt Duran), Zackary (Sierra) Morris, Scott (Tracy) Henry, Kara Henry (Cullen Hardman) and Megan Henry (Tyler Kraker); step-grandchildren, Victoria, Anthony, Shane and Ben (Jeri) Morris, Earnie Henry and Hannah and Max Pratt; great-grandchildren, Nathan Mairs, Taylor, Marshal, Hunter and Faith Henry, Breanna and Brayden Ratliff, Bailey Mullet, Acayo Philips, Archer Duran, Jackson and Kylie Morris, Rylee Mullet and Jacob Moore.

In addition to his parents and wife, three brothers, Wilbur “Butch,” Virgil and Bob Henry and two sisters, Edna Coblentz and Iola Giauque, died previously.

Services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Ledford officiating.
Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery where military rites will also take place in his honor.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
