Obituary for John C. "Johnny" Bender

John C. "Johnny"  Bender
John Charles "Johnny" Bender, age 77, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his home of 49 years, following a period of declining health. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born on August 26, 1940 in Loudonville, Ohio to John Orrville and Florence Evelyn Strang Bender.

He married Carolyn Maxine Morris on August 26, 1959 They were married for 58 years. Carolyn survives.

In his earlier days, he worked on the Bender Family Farm and then worked as a truck driver for his father's business, John Bender Trucking Co. He then worked as a buffer for Regal Ware and then for the next 30 years, became owner/operator of John C. Bender Trucking Co. before his retirement.

He had been a member of Trinity Evangelical United Church of Christ in Loudonville and most recently a member of Living Water Fellowship Church in Wooster but had not been attending recently due to his health; member of Ebenezer Lodge #33 F&AM in Wooster and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He enjoyed watching stock car racing; crafts and flowers with his wife and traveled to Wyoming , Utah and California with his daughter Tammie and Son- In-Law, John.
He also enjoyed attending tractor pulls at the Wayne County Fair and diesel trucks with his grandson, Cameron. He also attended car shows with his daughter, Sheri and Son-In-Law, Mike Howard.

He was also a supporter of, The American Cancer Society and Easterseals along with various other charities.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughters, Tammie (John M.) Roby of Wooster and Sheri Joan (Michael S.) Howard of West Salem; Grandchildren, Joel (Amber) Grassman, Fredrick (Ashley) Ward, Daniel (Bridgette) Kaser, Sean (Jesse) Howard, Cameron Howard and Ms. Meghan Cramer & Son and Brandon (Jamie) Haumesser; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Reeder of Loudonville; a loving friend, Katie (Ray) Hochstetler of Fredericksburg, Ohio and the loves of his life, his Chihuahuas, "Autumn" and "Chelsey".

Services will be Sunday, 2:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home with Chaplain Rod Miller officiating.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior (12:00 - 2:00 p.m.) to services at the funeral home on Sunday.

A private interment will take place at the convenience of the family at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to help aid with medical expenses to: John C. Bender Memorial Fund, C/O PNC Bank, 1676 Woodcrest Dr., Wooster, OH. 44691.
