Obituary for Irene Chupp Troyer

Irene Chupp Troyer, 92, died August, 10, 2016. She was born February 26, 1924 in Sugarcreek Ohio to the late Albert and Iva Yoder.
Irene grew up on a farm west of Sugarcreek with her 4 brothers and 3 sisters and graduated from Berlin High School in 1942. On Oct. 10, 1944, she married Daniel Chupp. He passed away suddenly in 1977. Irene then married Levi Troyer on Aug. 8, 1980 and made her home in Berlin until 2001 when she moved to Smithville. Levi died in 2002. Irene was a lifelong member of the Mennonite Church and was active in Berlin and Smithville Mennonite Churches. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, needle work and spending time with her family, friends and neighbors and playing her fiddle.
Preceded in death by her husbands Daniel Chupp and Levi Troyer; 2 sisters and 3 brothers, she is survived by her children David (Deborah) of Wooster, Linda (Frank) Contrael of North Canton, Steve (Deana) of Jacksonville, Fl., Amy (Bob) Weaver of Orrville, Joel (Diane) of Wooster, Nora (Scott) Hitchcock of Millersburg and Philip (Terry) of Dalton, 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren as well as step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister Louella Yoder and brother Paul Yoder.
Pastor Todd Martin will conduct the funeral service Saturday, August 13, at 5 PM at Smithville Mennonite Church, where the family will receive friends 2 hours prior to service time. Interment will follow at Smithville Mennonite Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Youth For Christ to Benefit Mark Miller, 8900 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD 21236.
