Obituary for Catherine L. Gifford

Catherine L. Gifford, age 93, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 18, 2016 at her residence following a period of declining health.

She was born on March 7, 1923 in Northfield, N.J. to Lewis Henry and Martha (Aron) Lashley. She married Arthur H. Gifford by Rev. M.V. Lindsey on August 4, 1942 in Wilmington, DE.

She then moved from Newark, DE to Wooster in 1966. She was a member of Northview Alliance Church in Wooster where she was also involved with both women's and children's ministries; enjoyed working with children in many capacities and mostly loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Laura Jane (Robert) Snyder of Akron, Olive (Roger) McConnell of Wooster, Doris (Leonard) Myers of Westerville, Bonnie (James) Roth of Wooster, Delbert (Sharon) Gifford of Ft. Wayne, IN.,David (Joan) Gifford of St. Louis, MO., Marjorie (David) Moore of Winchester, IN., Mark (Anita Jorney) Gifford of Wooster, Eileen (Walter) Fenton of The Woodlands, TX.,and Larry (Kerry) Phillips of Wooster; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Brothers, Cecil Lashley of Fort Worth, Tx, and Ralph Lashley of Wilmington, DE.; a sister, Dorothy Lashley of Wooster; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Norman Gifford, a sister, Margaret Swisher and a brother, (Lewis) Stanley Lashley.

Services will be Friday, 8:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Pastor Geno Colarusso officiating.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) to services on Friday.
A private interment will then take place at the convenience of the family.
