Obituary for Shirley J. Johnson

Shirley J. Johnson, age 67 of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Wooster Community Hospital following a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 9, 1947 in Wooster to Louis and Joyce (Kistler) Ghirardelli and has been a life long resident of Wooster.
She married John D. Johnson on December 24, 1966 in Wooster. He survives.
She previously worked in many capacities for the Wooster Daily Record for 28 years; was a lifelong member of the Wooster Church of the Nazarene where she also served as Sunday school teacher for many years; supported the Northwestern All Sports Athletic Boosters for many years.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a son, Michael Johnson of Wooster; a daughter, Jody (Steve) McElroy of Wooster; mother & step-father, Joyce (Norman) Treece of Wooster; grandchildren, Amanda, Jordan, Allison, Taylor, Natalee, Nicki, Brookelyn, Corbyn, Chloee and Brenna; a son in law, Garald Wise of Wooster; 4 brothers, Steve (Dee Dee) Ghirardelli of Craig, CO., Tim (Lois) Gardella of New Salisbury, IN., David Clark and John Clark both of Wooster; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends; and her dog, Angel whom she asked to take care of.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Wise and her grandpa and grandma, Kistler.
Services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Wooster Church Of The Nazarene with Pastor Nathan Ward officiating followed by interment at Congress Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 5 - 8 p.m.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., in Wooster is honored with serving the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to either the funeral home to help defray expenses or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lun and staff with the Cleveland Clinic Oncology Dept. as well as Hospice and Palliative Care of Wayne County for their special care and concern.
