Obituary for Jim North
Jim North, age 62, of Wooster, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Wooster Community Hospital following a period of declining health. He was surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 25, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to Richard William and Eleanor Katherine (Jones) North and has been a Wooster resident for the last 18 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict from 1969-1973 and obtained his B.A. Degree from the University of Akron.
He married Susan C. Pfaff on August 30, 1975 in Westlake, Ohio. She survives.
He worked for Atlas Energy Co.in Uniontown, Ohio as a Computer Programming Manager for 4 years.
Jim enjoyed interacting with children and loved working for various youth organizations throughout the years. The past 6 years he especially enjoyed spreading special Christmas cheer with the young and old at the Lodi Outlet Mall and various other places during the holidays.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Andrew (Jessica) North of Loudonville and a daughter, Karen (Marko) Farlow of Dalton; grandchildren, Bryan, Chris, Madison and Abbi Farlow and Zachary, Aiden and Rebekah North; brothers, Jason (Julia) North of California and Ron (Elaine) North of Virginia; a sister, SR. Nancy North of Chardon, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Doug Taylor officiating. A private family interment will take place.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 - 3 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour (3:00 - 4:00 p.m.) prior to services on Thursday.
