Obituary for Lowell G. Vance

Lowell G. Vance, age 70, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 25th, 2011 at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus where he was surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Rev. Shirley Thorpe officiating followed by interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens where military rites will also take place.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born on February 13, 1941 in Big Creek, W.Va. to Hassel and Mary (Hamilton) Vance and has been a Wooster resident for the last 40 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from May 28, 1959 - May 27, 1965 and married Iva K. Phelps. She survives.
He worked as a Mold Engineer for Rubbermaid in Wooster for 33 years before he retired in 1999.
He devoted his life to his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his mother of Huntington, W.Va. and beloved wife, he is survived by 3 daughters, Lesli (Kenny) Carraway of Marshallville, Ohio, Stephanie Vance of SanFrancisco, CA. and Lori Barkey-Shamblin of Dresden, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Angelica, Jaren, Kenny III, Kayla and Josh; 2 great-grandchildren, Briana and Max.; a brother, Hugh (Rose) Vance of Philadelphia, PA.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by an infant sister.
