CSM (Ret) Robert (Bob) A. Zigler

Robert Alton Zigler, 88, went home to his Lord and Savior and Bonnie his beloved

wife after a short period of declining health at Regency Hospital Long Term

Acute Care Facility, Barberton, OH.

Bob had lived in Wooster the past 30 years.

Bob was born September 24, 1921 on the family farm in Sterling, OH, to Clifford

J and Elsie (Van Sickle) Zigler. He married Bonnie May Davis on March 10, 1946

in Akron, OH, Bonnie died on December 25, 2008.

Bob was a veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater of Operations, where

he participated in D-Day and The Battle of the Bulge. Following WWII Bob

remained in the Reserves until his country required his service once again for

the Korean Conflict.

Bob was a career soldier, serving a total of 34 years; as a US Army Recruiter in

Akron, Ashtabula, Mansfield, Colorado, Texas and Indiana and as a Career

Counselor to soldiers in Germany and Korea.

Following retirement from the US Army Bob worked for Trac-Line in Mansfield,

Central Rent-All, Rayco Manufacturing, Hershberger Quality Cars and Dunn

Brother’s Premium Cars in Wooster.

Bob was a member of the First Church of God, Wooster and attended Wooster Grace

Brethren Church.

Bob was a volunteer fireman in San Antonio, TX and Mansfield, OH, he delivered

Meals On Wheels and was a Red Cross volunteer in Wooster.

Surviving is a sister, Betty (Ray) Brubaker of Seville. Children; David (Joan)

Zigler, Wooster; Paul (Janice) Zigler, McKinney, TX; Cynthia (Lester) Brown,

Radcliff, KY; Timothy (Barbara) Zigler, San Antonio, TX, eleven grandchildren

and nine great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lucile; a brother, Harold

and sister-in-law, Bertha.

Calling hours will be Friday, February 5th, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. (DUE TO THE WEATHER, THE

SERVICES ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY IS POSTPONED) The family requested the

funeral services to be rescheduled for Sunday, 1:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home,

2284 Benden Drive, Wooster.

Burial will be Monday, 9:30 a.m. at Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors.
