Dorothea C.  Hinkel (Oldham)
Dorothea C. Hinkel, age 75, of Wooster, was called to be home with the Lord, Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 at Life Care Hospice in Wooster following a long illness. She was surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 24, 1942 in Orrville to Harry and Edith (Hayden) Oldham and has been a Wayne County resident for most of her life.

She married Raymond Melville Hinkel on November 2, 1991 in Wooster. He survives.

Dorothea devoted 10 years to begin the work of the Christian Children's Home of Ohio with her family as a foster parent. Dorothea then went on to start her sewing business out of her home. She started working for the William Annat Co. and then with the Bridal Gallery as a seamstress where she worked from 1987 - 1997. She then helped with opening the Elder - Beerman Dept. store in Wooster where she worked as a Wedding Consultant for 5 years.

She was a charter member of Parkview Church of Christ in Wooster and loved to sew.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Deborah Beck of Wooster, OH., Denise (Armando) Abreu of Dallas, TX., Darlene (Sean) Fitzpatrick of Columbus, OH. and Deirdra (Jeremy) Yocum of Cincinnati, OH.; step-son, David (Cindy) Hinkel of Mattawan, MI., step-daughter, Diana (Patrick) Tucker of Wooster; grandchildren, Andrew Beck, Samuel & Henry Yocum, Zoe Fitzpatrick; step-grandchildren, Jay (Mary) Hinkel, Elizabeth Hinkel, Sarah Hinkel and Claire Hinkel.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, granddaughter and a step-son.

Services will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster with Pastor Brian White officiating followed by burial at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wooster.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 - 5 p.m. and one hour prior (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) to services on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to either: the Christian Children's Home of Ohio, 2685 Armstrong Rd., Wooster, OH. 44691 or Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH. 44691.
