Obituary for Brenda Joan Crawford

Brenda Joan Crawford
Brenda Joan "JoAnn" Hill - Crawford, age 74, of Wooster, died Monday, June 19, 2017 at her residence following a long illness.

She was born in 1943, the 4th child of 9, to James & Myrtle Hill in Raven Va. She worked as a waitress at Woolworth's and Isle's (The Parlor) Restaurant in downtown Wooster. She began her career as an "Old style" switchboard operator at Bosch Rexroth and later retired from the accounting dept.

In 1962 she had her only child, Gale Snure Hevener. "Momma Jo" was a natural at being a mom and then Grandmother, "Geia" to John Francis and Jenny Francis Yates. Jenny and Josh Yates gifted "Geia" with 2 great grandchildren, Cadence & Waylon. Brenda played a big role in raising 3 stepchildren, Wayne, Mike & Doug Crawford.

Brenda was an avid bowler and used her daughter as the teams "handicap". She loved her flower beds, made the best chocolate chip cookies in the world, had a heart for rescuing cats (7 now left), and loved her friends and family who were a great support system. Brenda always looked forward to Friday nights on the patio at the Wooster Inn with her cohorts in crime. She always stuck up for her son in law, Bob Hevener, as he would tattle to her when picked on by Gale. She was always gonna strike it rich each week playing the lottery...maybe they have "scratch-offs" in heaven! Her faith stayed strong through her 10 battle with lung cancer. Each day she believed God was healing her. He did indeed.

To help blame for all of the crazy (sometimes almost unbelievable) family stories are Joanns siblings, Dorothy Dudley, Betty Stutzman(deceased), Sylvia Cruey, Clifford Hill(deceased), Sonja Taulbee, Mike (Cathy) Hill, Ted (Shirley) Hill, Sharon (deceased) Roger Bevington.

Her most treasured she leaves behind are her 7 cats, Mr. Tbird, Fiesty, Tabby, Boogie, Miracle, Guppie and Squirt.

Memorial services will be Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster with Chaplain Marla Wilson officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior (11:00 - 12:00 p.m.) to services at the funeral home.

A private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
