Obituary for Nancy Jean Tanner
Nancy Jean Tanner, age 65, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 16th, 2017 at her residence following an illness.
She was born on December 26, 1951 in Lodi, Ohio to Earnest M. and June (Evans) Tanner and has been an area resident for most of her life.
She had attended Nick Amster Workshop and Midwest Community Workshop in Wooster for many years; She is mourned by many friends and caregivers who came to know and love her over the years.
Nancy's friends and family will always remember her enthusiasm for wooden puzzles, magazines, baby dolls, blankets, and all kinds of food-- especially cookies, coffee, hard boiled eggs, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, gummy bears and pasta.
Nancy did not communicate much verbally, but she was a very effective communicator when she wanted something, or didn't want it! Even in her later years when she used a wheelchair to get around, she'd push her way out the door of her house when she was in the mood to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.
She is survived by her brothers, William, Michael, and Timothy Tanner all of West Salem, Oh. and Stephen Tanner of Wooster; her sister, Kathleen (Tanner) Repp of Orrville; numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister and 5 brothers.
A Memorial Celebration of her life will be Thursday, August 24, 11:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster with Celebrant Samantha Hunnicut officiating.
A private interment will take place at the Ashland County Memorial Park in Ashland, Ohio at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to: Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691. (www.lifecarehospice.org)
