Obituary for Carl Wilbur Goudy

Carl Wilbur  Goudy
Carl Wilbur Goudy of Orrville passed away on August 30, 2017 following a short illness.

He was 98 years young.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Elvera Sommer Goudy (1919-1965) and his second wife Ruth Brenneman Goudy (1920-2014).

He is survived by his son Keith (Sharon) Goudy of Hot Springs Village, AR and daughter Bonnie Hackett of Littleton, CO. He has nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren and also survived by his dear friends, Paul and Evelyn Brenneman of Orrville.

He resided in the Dalton, Kidron and Orrville area all his life. He graduated Dalton High School in 1937 and
worked at Timken Roller Bearing until he retired in 1980.

He loved music and could be found singing in choral groups and performing solos including the annual community presentation of the Messiah. He directed the choirs at The First Presbyterian Church of Dalton and the United Church of Christ in Orrville for over 25 years. He also played trombone and performed in
various bands including the 11th Regiment Band in Dalton.

He was an avid golfer and played until about six years ago. He was a Veteran, serving as a teletype operator in the Pacific during World War II. He also had been a Volunteer Fireman at the Dalton Fire Department. He loved to travel and saw a great portion of the United States. He had a full and joyous life and left a lot of happiness wherever he went.

A Remembrance Celebration of Carl's Life will take place on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. at the OrrVilla Retirement Community, in the lower level of the "Maple Terrace", 333 E. Sassafras St. in Orrville,

Memorial contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of the donor's choice.
