Obituary for Carroll L. Reed

Carroll L.  Reed
Carroll L. Reed, age 83, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Rose Lane Nursing Center in Massillon following a period of declining health.

He was born on August 17, 1934 in Big Spring, TX. to Jack and Violet (Barryhill) Reed.

In 1951 he graduated from Big Spring High School and then for the next 4 years, attended the University of Texas.

He married Joan Bannerman on August 27, 1983. She survives.

He worked as a life insurance agent with Life of Southwest (LSW) for over 40 years and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was an avid reader; enjoyed politics and followed all the Cleveland sports teams. He mostly loved spending time with his family.

He always had a kind word and a word of wisdom for those who paid a visit. He never knew a stranger and would strike up a conversation in any setting.

He was a life long Republican and loved everyone for which the feeling was always mutual.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Laura Reed of Dallas, Tx., Judy (Gary) Sparks of Houston, Tx., Brad (Gay) Reed of Wylie, Tx., Randy (Karen) Reed of Luling, Tx., Annette (Terry) Reed of Mansfield, Oh., Renee (Tom) Shull of Buford, Ga., and Jeff (Marie) Reed of Buford, Ga.; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; many cousins and numerous friends.

His parents preceded him in death.

Services will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster with Pastor Don Bolich officiating. Burial will take place at Fairhaven Cemetery in West Salem, Oh.

Visitation will be one hour (12:00 - 1:00 p.m.) prior to services.

Memorial contributions may be made to either: Wayne Center for the Arts, 237 S. Walnut St., Wooster, Oh. 44691 or the charity of the donor's choice.
