Martha E.  Aukerman
Martha E. Aukerman, age 79, of Wooster, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 4th, 2018 at her residence in Wooster following a period of declining health.

She was born on September 26, 1938 in Detroit, MI. to Elmer C. and Rachel (Miller) White and has been an area resident of Wooster for most of her life.

She started working for Julia Fe Country Club as a server from 1969 - 1985 and then with Wooster Country Club for the next 13 years before retiring in 2002.

She belonged to Wooster American Legion Auxiliary Post 68; Women of Moose Chapter #293 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #811.

She enjoyed bowling, fishing and loved to go boating throughout the area including Lake Erie.

Martha is survived by her special friend and companion of 19 years, Ernest L. "Leroy" Murphy of Wooster; a son, Michael L. Akey of Wooster; a daughter, Vickie C. Gillespie of Wooster; her siblings, Raymond C. Nelson of Wooster, Richard D. (Cynthia) Nelson of PA., Oneta (Rick) Alexander of W. Va., Terry L. (Donna) Miller of Dover and Michelle (Jeff) Roberts of Wooster; 2 step-daughters, Suzan (Heiko) Hock of Germany and Tina Robertson of Wooster; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Gary D. Miller, a sister, Gayle P. Dennison and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Jean Akey.

Services will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster with Pastor Don Bolich officiating followed by entombment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.

Visitation will be this evening (Wednesday) from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to either: Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Rd., Wooster, Oh. 44691 or Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Oh. 44691.
