Obituary for Earl A. Glenn

Earl A. Glenn, age 89, of Norton, crossed over into heaven on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Brookdale Wooster.

He was born on March 9, 1929 in Cedar Grove, W. Va. to Arthur Earl and Myrtle D. (Hill) Glenn.

Earl married Virginia "Jennie" Lee Myers on August 11, 1947 in East Bank, W.Va. She survives. They then moved to the Akron area, in January, 1951 before moving to Norton in 1971.

He started working as a Carpenter with the former Woodall Construction Co. for 5 years. He then worked for Pruitt Construction Co. of Norton, as a Construction Foremen in Commercial Building Trade for 17 years before retiring in 1989.

During his younger years, he enjoyed raising horses and taking trips to Canada and bowling; He loved gardening and taking care of his yard and especially spending time with his family and friends. He was also a very devoted and active member of Wadsworth Church of The Nazarene for over 31 years; for over 50 years, he was a member of Local 285 Carpenters Union; he also enjoyed fishing and for over 19 years, loved taking trips with his family to his favorite vacation spot in Holden Beach, N.C. He also loved nature and even hiked through the Grand Canyon; He especially loved spending time with his family and studying his bible daily.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Earl "Art" (Tylynda) Glenn of Beaver Dam, WI., Samuel A. (Christine) Glenn Of Wooster, Oh. and Jean Petry of Quentin, PA.; grandchildren, Drew (Cheryl) Glenn of Reynoldsburg, Oh., Adam (Sarah) Glenn of Cuyahoga Falls, Oh. and Jordan Glenn (Taryn Evans) of Killbuck, Oh.. Chicago Glenn of Beaver Dam, WI and Emilee Glenn of Wooster, Oh.; great-grandchildren, Noah, Amber, Addison, Natalie, Alex and Calvin. his favorite sister and brother in law, Shirley ( Rev.Jack) Gregory of Glasgow, W.Va. and numerous nieces and nephews and everyone he met became his friend.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, David Wayne Glenn and a daughter, Sherry Lynn Glenn; siblings, Dr. E. Miles Glenn, Harold L. "Red" Glenn, Naomi K. Holston and Donald R. Glenn.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Wadsworth Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dr. Howard S. Russell officiating followed by interment at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior (12:00 - 2:00 p.m.) prior to services at the church.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.
