Obituary for James M. "Captain " Kirk

James M. Kirk, age 62, a longtime resident of Wooster, passed away, Sunday, October 21st, 2018 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster with family by his side. He leaves behind three children, two grandchildren, and three siblings.

Jim was born in Findlay, OH to Dick M. and Jean M. (Morrison) Kirk on July 26th, 1956. They then moved to the Wooster area in 1962.

He graduated from WHS in 1974 and married his high school sweetheart, Patty Johnston in 1977.

He then worked at Central Farm Supply for over 25 years while growing the company as partner. Having bought and remodeled his childhood friend's home in 2000, he started his own maintenance and remodeling business becoming known as "Captain Kirk" and building a reputation on quality.

He had been a member of Wooster UMC and Wooster CC. He was an avid golfer, motorcycle rider, camper, ping-pong player, pool shark, and backgammon champ until the very end. Captain lived a long, full, and active life and will be missed by all.

Jim is being remembered by his daughter Trina (Louis) Grater of Veyo, UT, sons, Travis Kirk of Nederland, CO and Tyson Kirk of Wooster; grandsons, Sylvan Kirk of CO and Hugo Grater of UT; Siblings, Steve Kirk of WA, Jane Fisher of CO and Bonnie Magers of Dalton; many nieces, nephews, and many, many friends, coworkers, and customers.

Friends may call from 11-1 on Saturday, Nov. 3rd. at Custer Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr. in Wooster to pay their respects, A time of fellowship and comfort food will take place following at Captain's residence, 341 Miller Blvd Wooster. There will be a Celebration Of Life announced at a later date.
