Obituary for Herman H. "Jay" Ray Jr.

Herman H. "Jay" Ray, Jr., age 67 of Wooster, entered into rest, Thursday, January 1st, 2015 in Wooster following a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 13, 1947 in Wooster to Glenn Henry and Martha Elizabeth (Vanmeter) Ray and has been a Wooster resident for all of his life.
He married Judy Lee Gentry for 47 years. She entered into rest on November 16, 2013.
He worked for Crown America (formerly Crown Steel) of Wooster where he had worked his entire life before retiring in 2001.
He enjoyed working on vehicles; loved to fish and mostly enjoyed spending time with family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry (Sonja) Ray and Eddie Ray all of Wooster; a daughter, Alice Ray of Cleveland; grandchildren, Whitney Ray (Nichole Smith), Christian Ray, Connor Ray, Kody Yoder, Bradley Duncan, Brandy Edgell and Ashley ( J.T.) Tabor; a great-grandchild, Braxton Duncan; sisters, Alice (Temple) Snodgrass, Bonnie (Rudy) Woodruff and Twila Short all of Wooster; sisters-in-law, Sally (Chuck) Nicholson of Wooster, Jackie (David) Buffington of Akron, Carol Miller of Apple Creek and Shirley Dominic of Holmes County and his faithful canine companion, "Rosie".
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Ethel Nicholson and Esther Coleman and brother-in-law, Bill Tomasetti.
Services will be Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Pastor Tom Michaels officiating.
Visitation will be two hours prior ( 4-6 p.m.) to services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
A private family interment will take place at East Union Cemetery in Wooster.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Life Care Hospice of Wayne County for their
care and concern and a also to Kelli Sanders for all of her selfless, caring help for Jay and the family.
