Obituary for John W. Kestner Sr.

John W. Kestner, Sr., age 72, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday evening, December 22, 2012 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Services will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Rev. Dr. Allan Nathan officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m.

He was born on March 26, 1940 in Glade Springs, Virginia to Earnest and Virginia C. (Null) Kestner and has lived in the Wooster area for the last 45 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict for 9 years. He started working at Akron Brass and then with Wayne Steel as a Fabricator for many years before his retirement.
He married Iris D. Faught on October 6, 2001 in Smithville. She survives.
He attended the Zion Lutheran Church in Wooster; enjoyed playing the banjo and loved listening to bluegrass music.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Jon W. Kestner, Jr. of Wooster and James E. (Angie) Kestner of Ferndale, Washington; 7 daughters, Deborah (Dave) King of North Canton, Ohio, Nancy M. (Paul) Markel of Biloxi, Miss., Jerri Lee Bragg of Alvin, Tx., Terri Harrouff of Austin Town, Ohio, Judie (John) Hoyman of Millersburg, Julie (Albert) Gilbert of Wooster and Tracy Kolarovsky of Smithville; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; several sisters and brothers all of Viginia; and his faithful canine companion, "Lady".
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Lee Kestner.
