The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

I am deeply saddened today on hearing that one of my most influential voice teachers has passed away. Baritone Dale Moore was my teacher at IU Music School. He was my first vocal instructor as an actual voice major at a serious institution, because previously at Oberlin, I had been a pianist. I prepared my first full vocal recital with him, and beyond developing my voice immensely, he helped me believe in myself as a singer and come to identify myself as a legitimate singer. I can without a doubt say that I would not be a singer today if I had not had the great good fortune to have studied with him. In addition to being a wonderful pedagogue, he was also simply a fabulous guy. He was good-hearted to a fault, and always took care of his students, without prejudice.
