Russell Miller

Dear family of Dale Moore, I was privileged to call Dale my colleague and friend at the Eastman School of Music, where we began together in 1995. During the four years we were both on the voice and opera faculty, he was not only clearly successful and popular as a voice teacher, but also extremely helpful to me as an inexperienced teacher of vocal repertoire. He was always ready with advice about all aspects of our field, and also gave me several volumes of poetry and songs which I continue to use and treasure. His knowledge of British and American art song was particularly impressive. It was also my pleasure to accompany Dale on one occasion in the Vaughan Williams Songs of Travel for a private performance in his home in Rochester, followed by a terrific meal prepared by Rosanne. I last saw them both in Bloomington in 2003 and regret that I didn't get back there for a return visit. My best wishes and condolences to all the Moores, I will miss him.
